Just some Awesome stuff. . :)

I got a letter from my Filipino princess, and it is precious!!!

She made me a birthday card! It is so sweet!

Oh, this girl! I love her!

I have actually received a few letters and just haven't had the time to blog. . .  I feel so close to this precious girl

Compassion International is planning a sponsor tour to the Philippines in January of 2014. . .  :)
I am praying about going . . I would LOVE to go.

I have been saving a little every month for my Philippines trip whether it is next year or two or three years after that. Please pray that if it be God's will ( which I think it is) that he would provide the means for this trip. We know a friend who we met working Compassion tables who is going. . God is Sovereign. . . If he wants me to go I will. That is my hope.

So. . . Have you sponsored a child or received a letter? Is this your first time here? I would love to get a comment from you.

Will you show love by sponsoring a child?  Maybe you need to write your child. . .

Again, I am overwhelmed by this precious girl! She is Beautiful!! I hope I get to know her more, but she already feels like my little sister!

These girls mean so much to me! I love them all so much! They help me never forget what is really important, showing God's love to the least of these.

WoW! God is Faithful!

My mom and I have been trying to think of things to do locally to show God's love. We feel His love so real in our lives we can't hold it in. . .

So last Saturday ( 6th ) my friend Mary said our friend, Claire,  our youth Pastor's wife, Leah and her wanted to invite me to come and "chalk up the town for Jesus" with them. Her and Claire had done it earlier that day and said they wanted to get me to do it with them. . .  I was excited! I thought it was a great idea.

Well it turned out to be a lot more then just us four! In all there was about ten girls writing messages all over the sidewalks of our town.

We wrote things like " Jesus's love covers you" and "Romans 8:1".

About half way through the day we were all together talking on the side of the road. We were talking about how we have to show love and not just say love. .  How we show love because we have been loved!

About that time a lady walked up. She asked if we were the ones who wrote on the sidewalks last week and we told her yes. .  That was Mary and Claire! She told us she walked out of her store last week and saw " Romans 8:1 For there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ" written on the sidewalk. She started to tear up. She told us she had thought about it all week and tried to find us to tell us how it had touched her. WoW!

Another time ( I didn't see this. They told me) a guy drove up to a green light and STOPPED to ask if they were the ones who wrote on the sidewalks last week. They told him "yes" . He told them " I love God a lot but sometimes I wonder if He loves me. When I looked down and saw it written on the sidewalk. .  It touched me. Thank you."  WoW again!!

God is FAITHFUL!

This is what I had been praying for! This is what God had in mind. This is how I was to show His LOVE!!

I am not trying to say " I am awesome and show God's love everyday". No. .  I fail a lot! What I am trying to say is even little acts of love can make a huge difference for Christ! We just have to be open to what God has for us!

This is what it is all about. . .  Showing God's love for HIS glory, even in the little ways!

I Have A Bible.

Hi my name is Maimouna. I am 5 yrs old. I have a Bible!

See. . .  when I was little I was hungry a lot. My father and mother would worry all the time for me and my brother and sister. She mother would cry and I wouldn't know why. I would wonder if it was because of me.

I didn't go to school. I would help with my baby brother at home. One day when I was going to the market for my mom a nice lady told me that there was a church that could help me. She said her daughter was going  to the church and received a  meal when she went. She said the nice people at the church would help her learn school and teach her about a man named Jesus. She said her daughters favorite part of all that the church did for her was give her letters from a person they called a sponsor. She loved her sponsor.

I ran home and told my mom all that the lady told me! I wanted to go to the church the next day! Mama thought is was a great idea too. The next day we went to the church and Mama answered some questions about me. They took a picture of me! It was the first time I had ever had my picture taken!

I went to the church once a week. I made lots of new friends, and I learned a lot too! They told me about a man named Jesus. They told me He loves me! I liked that. It made me feel special.

One day when I came into the project, that is what the church in called one of the ladies told me I had a sponsor!!
I was so excited! I was going to get letters like the other kids!! I learned I was sponsored by a family in America! I had heard about America but now I was going to get letters from America!

I waited and wrote letters to them.  . . . I turned 7 and had never got a letter.  I wondered why. I wondered if I wasn't pretty enough. I smiled in the new picture, but still no letter.

I had started to not care about letter days. I thought I would never get a letter. I was talking to my friend while the other kids had their names called to come get their letter on letter day. Then I thought I heard my , name! "Maimouna, you have a letter." I let out a shout! I ran to get my letter! I read it and read it! It was so special. I learned a lot about my sponsor! I learned they had three kids, and the youngest one had MY birthday!

When I showed my Mom she was excited for me! Then I noticed something. My mom was not a sad anymore. She had not been as worried the past few weeks. I think it is because of my sponsor.

My sponsors write me now! I wonder why they waited so long. I think they started writing because of Jesus! I know He loves me when I get letters.

The project gave me a bible! It is my families only bible.  My family and I read it every night. I like my bible because I can bring it home and let my family read about what I learn about at the project. I love my sponsor. . . and I love my bible.

...........................................................................................................

This story is only half true. There is 5 yr old girl in Burkina Faso.

Her name is Maimouna.

The only thing is she hasn't got a sponsor yet. She hasn't received a letter. She is still watching children get letters while she waits. She has waited. . . and waited. . . She has waited almost a year now. Will you end her wait? Will you show her His love? I believe you will NEVER regret it!

Thank You, LORD!

Dear God,
Lord, You did something in my heart. You moved me to action! God, you gave me a desire to touch lives for YOUR glory! I am so thankful!
When mom told me I should sponsor and she would help it was ALL You! Lord, without You I wouldn't have my sweet Jazzy, Reggi, or Aster. Lord, You ARE changing my life through these girls! LORD, you showed your Sovereignty in placing me with each one of these girls! They are not mine. They are YOURS. You just bless me through them. You allow me to tell them of Your amazing love for them. I am so honored. LORD, as I tell them Your love for them I realize more Your love for me. It brings me to my knees. LORD,  fill me even more with a desire to spread Your love. Never let it burn out. Help me never to go numb to the hurting in this world. I want to bring you glory!
I am so unworthy of Your unfailing, unconditional love for me! Lord, I thank you! I thank you for these precious girls You've put in my life! I thank You for their sweet letters! I thank You for their sweet love and hugs they are always sending. Lord, I can't even thank you enough! I LOVE YOU!! In Jesus name,

Amen

This Thing that I Love.

For a while now I have been blogging about "Compassion"  and how God has changed my life through this awesome organization. If you have ever read my blog ( or even my blog title) you know it is a huge blessing to me and my family.

Well, there is this cool thing going on this month called "Compassion Blogger Month" . There is a lot of cool things I could win and stuff but that doesn't even matter. Our goal for this month is for this month is to get 3,108 children sponsored. I know we can do this.

            God is Sovereign!!

With his help we could get 15,000 children sponsored!! He loves these children more than we ever could even imagine. He cares for them! They are HIS

So what I want to ask you to do is to just go look! Go look at their faces! Look at there beautiful faces, and see Jesus! Through Christ blood on the cross God sees Jesus when He looks at them

He sees Jesus when He looks at us! All of us! YOU! They need to know that!! They need to know someone LOVES them! Will you tell them?  Just. . . . .

                                                             LOOK.

Please Pray for this little Guy!

Well school started Monday at our house. I am a highschooler! It is going awesome! I really love my science!

Anyway that is not what I am blogging about. . .

Our youth group sponsors a little boy. His name is Holito, and he is from the Philippines. One of the college guys in our youth group (Dustin) sponsors him, in his name and writes him. Everyone tries to give at least a dollar a month and that pays for him. If any of us want to write Holito we can because he knows he is sponsored by a group. :)
Isn't he cute handsome?!?
A few weeks ago Dustin  had an update to share with GPS ( Gracepoint Students) about our buddy Holito. He had received another letter from Holito's mom. She shared that they just found out that little Holito has a heart disease. :( Our hearts are so sad and we pray God heals him. One of the things our youth pastor shares about a lot is how "God is sovereign!". We have to know that God has this in his hands along with everything else ever! He loves Holito more then we ever can.

I ask you to pray for Holito. Please pray that if it is God's sovereign will that He will touch and heal little Holito. That he would be healed completely of this heart disease. That He would use this sweet boys story, which God is the author of
for His awesome glory! Pray that God's peace that only He can give will be with this family.

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.  Romans 8:28

                                               All for Him,

From: Ethiopia!!

About a week ago I received my very first letter from my Aster from Ethiopia!! I am so excited about this African Princess! She is so sweet . . . I can tell. :)

The letter is a fill in the blank so there really isn't a full letter. . . I learned a lot about this sweet girl though!!

Aster lives with both her parents. She has one sister named Sheuase. Aster's favorite game is pretending. :) In school she is best in English. Her favorite pet is a cat, and her favorite color is red.  Her favorite bible story is about Jesus. I guess that means all with Jesus in it. :) She likes Christmas. She said she likes to learn, and she wants to be a teacher that means two of my girls want to be teachers and one wants to be a doctor.

Beautiful girl!

I love this girl already!I can't wait to get to know her even more! These girls are changing my life!

A Changed Future!

For those of you who don't know, "Student Life" works with Compassion International to promote sponsorship and release children from poverty. They get a few Compassion LDP , (Leadership Development Program) students from Kenya and fly them to the states. At each of the camps a student will share their story and help work the Compassion table. :)

Maureen (side bar), my sister from Kenya came to the states for SL back in the Summer of  2010. That was before we knew her. :(  Mandi met Maureen, on her trip to Kenya in the fall of that year. -_-

I knew I would meet a LDP student at camp. That was one of the reasons I really wanted to go to a SL camp in the first place. Well my mom was SO excited that I was going to meet a LDP student ( I was pretty stoked too!) she found out who was going to be at my camp, found him on Facebook, and sent him a messege telling him I would be there. Oh my mom. . . I love her! :)

Tony was who would be there at my camp. The first night of camp after worship I walked over to the Compassion table and looked at the beautiful faces. The guy at the table looked Kenyan and this is how are conversation went. . .  " Hi, are you Tony?". . . "Yes." . . . " Hi, I'm Lysa". . . " OH! Is your mom the one who sent me a messege on Facebook?!" . . ." haha. .Yeah that is my mom!" . . .  " She was so excited you were coming" . . .  " Oh yes!"

It was so funny!!

It was great getting to know him.

Tony grew up in a slum in Nairobi with his mom and two siblings. His dad died when he was very young. He is the youngest of the three children. In Kenya women without husbands and have kids are looked down on. Tony's family needed a place to live and sometimes their own family would not let them stay with them.

They were able to rent a little house in the slum ( a hut). One of the things he said that almost made me cry ( It takes a lot to make me cry. BTW) was that his mom would have nothing to eat for dinner, but she would not want to tell the kids so she would put water on to boil and act like she was cooking and just wait for the kids to fall asleep. Tony said the next morning he would realize they never ate.

One day when Tony was walking on street a guy told him he should go to the church and they will give free food. It was the day Compassion was registering kids! He would go to the project a few times a week and hear about God and how He loves him. He would get a meal and medical care.  Then one day, when Tony was a teen he came home from school and his mom had died. :( The children were older and able to care for themself but it was hard for them I am sure.

Because God intervened through Compassion, Tony now has a degree in finance and accounting!! How AWESOME is that?!?

YOU can do that! You can change a life for Christ! You can make a difference! Sponsor a child!

It is amazing what God has done and is doing in Tony's life! I am so thankful I was able to meet him and get to know him over that week!

This girl!

This is Chanley!

Chanley is one of my sweet 2 yr olds from the CDA. ( Read the last post :)

We first met all the kids the first day on the playground. Chanley and a few of the other kids kept picking up sticks and little acorn things and would bring them to me and Katie and say " Popcorn" . Then we would play along and pretend to eat it and they would laugh and giggle. :) It was super cute!

I love all the kids but I got more attached to Chanley then any of the other kids because she got more attached to me then any of the other kids.<3  After the end of the first day Chanley knew my name but she would say. . " What your name?"  then I would say, laughing " You silly girl. You know my name." . She would laugh and the say " Alyssa! " . She wanted attention. :)

The end of the second day Katie and I were giving the kids hugs bye. When I got to Chanley she grabbed both my hand, looked with her pretty brown eyes and said " Don't go home".  I told her had to and that I loved her and would be back tomorrow. I wanted to stay though!

:)

By the time the next day came I was ready to get hugs from Chanley and the others! We got there and as we were getting out of the van a little voice piped up and said " Hi!". It was Chanley with her head poked out of her car! :) She ran and gave Katie and I hug and then went inside. It was SO sweet!

That day was water day! The kids got their swim suits on and went to the water arch thingies they had behind the building. I didn't know it was water day so I was in jeans and a shirt. I played with the kids any way! I love them to much to just let them play without me. :) Chanley would grab my arm and say " Come on!" as she pulled me through the water arches. It was so fun. I played with all the other sweet kids but none were as excited as Chanley! We all had a blast!

Chanley with my glasses on. :)

Pretty girl!!

I was having having a great time with the kids, but I knew in the back of my mind I would have to say goodbye soon. When it came time to say goodbye I gave all the kids hugs, told them they were special and that I loved them. I longed to tell them God loved them. . . all three days I longed to tell them, but it was against rules to talk about any religion or use the name Jesus or God there, and I didn't want to make Jesus loving people ( who we told them we were/ who we are ) look bad by breaking rules.

When I got to Chanley she held her hands out for me to hold he. I picked her up and she said it again . . " Don't go home. " I was on the brink of crying. Again I told her I had to and that I love her so much! Then she said "I want to come to your house!" . WOW!! The fact that she had only known me for two days, but wanted to come home with me hit me hard. She is only two but she wants to leave her family to come to my house!?!

All kids want, is to be loved. Chanley showed me that. We want affection. That is just how God made all of us. You can show love to a child that may not see it. . . You can show them the greatest love ever. . . You can show them the LOVE of Christ. It is so deep. It is so awesome! He LOVES us!!

Student Life in review. . .

Yes, I am alive. ;) I know I have not blogged in a LONG time. . . I am sorry.Since I have been back from Student Life ( read last post :) life has been busy .

Student Life was AWESOME!! God was in every little detail! I went with the church from Norcross and in the first one or two days it felt like we had known each other for forever! God is AWESOME right?!?  Katie and Hannah were my roommates. We became really close! We stayed up till 2:00 the first night just talking. They are so cool!!
Katie, Me, and Hannah. :)

Back of the bus. LOL. I love the facial expressions. :)

We worked with the C.D.A. ( Child Development Association) all week. It was kind of like a daycare for poor families. Katie and I helped in the two year old class. They had classes for up to 5 yrs old. Those children were adorable!! I fell in love! :)

Love them!!

We had eleven 2 yr olds and 2 or 3 teachers in the class each day. We were there to help with anything the teachers needed us to do . . . Help with lunch . . . Put lotion on the kids after water day . . . Read a book or two. . . and so on

The kids were very needy . . . Not for material things, but for love ( probably material things too). I could tell the children probably didn't get a lot of attention at home, and I was ready to give lots of hugs. :)

Most of the children and I. <3

This baby is SO cute!!

Does she not have the cutest smile ever?!? :)

God did AMAZING things at Student Life!! He showed me so much!! One of the guys I went with (Katie's brother) started a saving relationship with Christ!! I can't even explain how God worked in that amazing moment. He is sovereign!!

Thanks for all who prayed for me and helped me get there. You guys are super cool!! I will share more about Student Life in the next few posts. This one is getting long. :P

God is great and does great things!!

Please Pray!

About four months ago I started trying to sign up for a Student Life Missions Camp. We found out that you have to go with a church in order to go to a camp. Well none of the churches in any of the towns near by ( Nobody we know) were going to SL. :(

Maurine( side bar), from Kenya toured with SL a few summers ago and told mom "You really need to get Lysa to SL. It is life changing.

Well we called SL and they told us they could hook me up with a church that is going and I could be part of their group. So we started emailing back and forth with the youth pastor of the church they want me to go with. To make a long story short ( well shorter) everything worked out. We raised the $300 for camp! God is AwEsOmE!! I will get to meet a Compassion LDP student!

Well camp starts tomorrow, and Norcross First Baptist church, the church I am going with is like 2 1/2- 3 hrs away from our house. We drove up to Norcross on Thursday so I could go to the last prayer meeting the group was having and meet the other students going to camp! The are really sweet and kind!! We stayed in Norcross all weekend and went to the church this morning! I went to youth group and the youth pastor told us our missions assignment for the week. I will be working with the CDA, Child Development Agency!! I will be working with under privileged children!! My heart is so excited!!!

Please pray for the group and I!  Pray God will give us the words to say to these kids to show them His awesome LOVE! Pray that we will serve with passion! Just pray please!

Words cannot express how excited I am! I am so thankful for this! God is faithful!

If you read this far,  thanks a lot! :)

The letter I have been longing for!

We went to Florida last weekend! We were able to see Mike, his wife Amber, my Auntie Sharon and some cool friends that we haven't seen in a while! It was great! We were able to go to Grace Conway, the church my brother helped plant and leads worship at. That was one of the highlights. It was awesome!

Well, when we got home we had mail. .  and not just any mail... Compassion mail!! I got a letter!! I was crazy excited ( as I always am when I get letters). I opened it and IT WAS FROM REGITA!

If you have been reading my blog a while you know I have been waiting to receive a letter from my sweet Regita from Indonesia. I haven't received a letter from her in over six months! That is a long time for letters with Compassion! I was worried. I was so relieved to hear from her!

The letter is awesome! Here are a few of my personal favorite parts. . .

Hi, Sister Alyssa,
. . .  I really enjoy the gift that you sent me especially your beautiful photos. . . I am happy and wonder to hear that you can eat fried rice like me. I heard that only a few of American people like to eat my country dishes. . . I like the song titled " Little Samuel" and often sing it. ( So cute!) My family and I are doing well. . . I like playing jump robe together with my friends. I have no pets because there is no ( not) enough space in my house for having any pets but, I like butterflies. . . I hope my letter finds you in good condition. Love regards in Christ.

Isn't that awesome?!? I am so thankful for this letter and for this precious girl God has placed in my life! I am so blessed with my three girls.

I pray I can bless them as much as they bless me!

All for Him,

Blessed again!

So for about a month or so I've been thinking about adding to my Compassion family, and getting another child to correspond with. I wanted to do more, even if it was just telling another child they are loved by God.

So after praying about it for a while, a week ago I call Compassion and got on the waiting list for another correspondent child. The next day she was there on my account. . .

Aster Gelgelo Gobena

Aster is from Ethiopia! She is going to be 9 yrs old on Sep. 20. She lives with both her parents and one sibling!!! She loves to play house, group games and jump robe. She helps out her family by running errands, cleaning, and helping with child care. Aster's father works as a laborer at a construction site and her mother sometimes sells at the market.

Wait. . .that is not all. I called Compassion today and asked a few questions about Aster. She has been in the program since August 2007 and has had two sponsors, but has never received a letter.  Isn't that heartbreaking!?! I will send her her first letter today. I know God has placed this beautiful girl in my life to show her His love. She is SO precious to Him. I am so excited to get to know her!! She is already so precious to me!

There are so many more children just like Aster who receive little or no letters at all. They wait for them, just like Aster but they have never come. I pray you will be moved to sponsor a child today and show them the love of Christ. If you sponsor and don't write it is not to late to start or pick up the pace. You will never regret it!

A Great Surprise!

So yesterday my mom told me she needed a hair cut. We were going to go early (we had VBS this week) to see if she could get worked in. Mom said while we were waiting we would sit at Dairy Queen (should of known something by this!).

On the way into DQ the door opened and someone said "Here let me open the door for you."

TO MY SURPRISE IT WAS ELISA!! She (and her husband Rob) were the leaders from our COTW choir! I was so excited.... as you can tell by the picture below!

Look at Rob laughing! Elisa picked me up!

It turns out they were coming through Hazlehurst on their way to a conference and she txt my mom and asked if we could meet and have lunch. My mom thought she would surprise me!

They were so cool when we saw them on the tour two years ago and they still are!!

Elisa & I... she is so pretty.

It was so fun catching up, laughing and sharing memories. Elisa was able to tell us about her trip to Uganda and seeing some the Ugandan kids from the choir. She said they are all doing well.  God is faithful.

We had some pretty amazing things happen this past week...  in my next post I will share more!

Mail Call!!

I know I haven't been posting a lot. I haven't been online much and when I am I am on a device that really isn't easy to post on.

Anyways, when I came home from the beach I had a letter waiting for me. Yay!! It was from my sweetie from the Philippines! As all my letters from Jazzy Rain are, it was super sweet. Here are a few of my favorite parts.

Dear Alyssa Price,
Hello, how are you? . . For me here it is okey through the help of our almighty God. Thank you very much for your beautiful picture and stickers. You look very young in your custums.(Haha:) Thank you also to Kayle and Mareanna ( Mrs. Laurie's  two very sweet girls, who drew Jazzy drawings :) for sending me a beautiful drawing. . . . Mrs. Lyssa please pray that on my recognition day in school I will have more awards, and also my brother and sister. . . . What month is your closing in school? Here in Philippines it is the month of March. Until next letter...

This girl is awesome ( if you can't tell)!! This is the first time she has said " I love you" !! She has signed   it "love, Jazzy"  but that is all. My heart melts when I read it!! It is truly amazing how close this little girl is to my heart and I have never even heard her voice or given her a hug! It is truly a God thing. :)

I have still not heard from my Reggi. It has been since December since I have heard from her. I even called Compassion  and they told me that there is not even a letter from her on the way!! Compassion is going to do a field call ( I think that is what they called it :p)  and get in contact with her project to see what is going on. Please be praying for Regita and her family, and that Compassion has good news when they get back to me. I am really worried.

Would love to hear from you in comments. :) God bless

God amazes me... alot!

I'm back. :) We had an AwEsOmE time at the beach (Destin), and got home Friday. It was so great seeing Mike and Amber!!  The beach was beautiful, but I am not going to talk about the beach or our vacation.

The last time I skyped with Auntie Joy (If you don't know her read this post :) she told me she was going to get all the filipino kids from the C.O.T.W. together for like a reunion, and she might be able to let my mom and I skype with them!! I was so excited. She said she might do this in May so all through this month I have thought about it.

The day before we left for Destin my mom got a messege from Joy that said  " Please be on skype tonight. I have a suprize. :)". I was crazy excited!

Of course we got on skype that night. Can you guess what the suprise was? She ( because she is awesome) let all the filipino ( C.O.T.W.) kids skype with US!! Guys, it was so great!! We had not heard these kids voices (and some not even seen their face) in two years. They were so sweet!! It was so great hearing them laugh! They have grown so much!

This is me with some of the girls( March 2010). I skyped with the three girls in white ( and a few others) .
This is them at the reunion about a week ago. The girl on the left ( Venus( I skyped with her too :) is not in the last pic but the other two girls are. They are all so beautiful!!

God amazes me with how He allows me to keep in touch with these awesome kids. I am so thankful! I am so thankful Joy and Josh (another chaporone that is in the Philippines) let us skype with the kids. We were just some weird people that followed their tour. :P

And to think we almost didn't go back to church that night in October 2009 when they first came to our church. So many things would be different . . . I probably wouldn't be sponsoring my Jazzy girl.. . . We would not be nearly as involved in Compassion.

God can change the way you think in just a minute. He has totally changed my world through these kids. He might use other things to change you but this is what He used for me, and I am thankful He did!

Song Saturday!

This is my first post of Summer!! Thursday was my last day of school for 8th grade! It's kinda weird to think I am in high school now.

We are starting Summer with a week at the beach! We are having a great time. We are so grateful to be here!Mike (brother) and Amber ( his wife) will come tomorrow, so we are very excited about that! We are in Destin, Florida! It is so beautiful. I probably won't post till I get home or a little after.

I love this song! I have only heard it once or twice but it gives me hope. When we see the poverty... the brokeness... the hurt.... it's good to know there is hope. If you are a child of God this is not your home.

Song Saturday!!

I wanted to share a very beautiful girl I saw on the Compassion website

Matha

Matha is from Uganda. She is nine years old.  She needs a sponsor.  Matha lives with her mother and siblings . . . . Only her mother... No Dad. :(  She helps carry water. She likes rolling a hoop and singing...
Her bare feet just kill me!! I wish I could give her a hug and some shoes!!

Matha is real.... She is not just a picture... She is just as real as you or me... or that sweet little girl, from the Philippines who sends me drawings and letters. She needs to know how special she is and how much she is LOVED by the one who made her beautiful.  Will you tell her?? Will you sponsor her for 38 dollars a month?? Just click on her link

This and That Tuesday!!

I had a great time at the retreat over the weekend. It was so fun. I made a lot of new friends. The women that came and spoke were all in their early twenties and really on fire for God. They were so great... It was really sad when we had to say bye...

One of the ladies that stayed at my host home was really interested in hearing about mine and my friends Compassion children... It was really cool being able to talk about it with somebody who hasn't heard before...

I have been reading the book " Do Hard Thing" by Alex and Brett Harris. It is awesome. It talks about how the world has low expectations for teenagers so teenagers never reach there full God given potential. People think of the teenage years as a vacation.

I don't want be the typical teenager... you know... do school... hang out with friends ... never make a difference in the world.

We are following the Compassion bloggers as they go to Tanzania... I hope you are too!!

Have a great week!!

Song Saturday

I posted this Monday for about two hours before I realized it posted and took it off. I planned on saving it for today. :P

Last Saturday my mom, a few of my friends, and I worked a Compassion table at a Jeremy Camp concert. It was good. The concert was on a football field. It rained... It poured, and it was so cold. We were soaked!  It was ALL worth it though because 6 precious children were sponsored.

Sunday ( 4/22/12) was Compassion Sunday. It was so great at our church! 13 children were sponsored! My mom and I were so blessed.

At our church we watched Jimmy's video of when he met his sponsor! That is amazing in itself. Of course they showed the Compassion Sunday video..Pastor Chris spoke on poverty and the excuses we have so we don't have to do anything... Then Claire, one of my very best friends told her Compassion Story.... She did great!

It was such a great day!! God worked so powerfully!

As we walked into the the church this song was playing in the back ground.... This is why I sponsor...

And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ Matt. 25:40

Change the world for a child in need.... sponsor a child.

Monday Mail call!!

I hope you all had a great Compassion Sunday yesterday. We were so blessed at our church. I will have to try to blog about that later!

Friday I received a letter from my sweet Jazzy girl! She is so sweet.

Here are a few things she wrote...

Dear Alyssa Price,
How are you? I hope your fine and okey. About me here I'm okey and I'm in good condition. . . . . Little Alyssa my family is planning to go in my grandmothers house this summer vacation. We will gather together with my cousin, Tita's and Tito. I know I will enjoy there because I can play anywhere without any vehicle in the road because it is a remote place. Our closing exercises ( School.. I'm pretty sure)  is fast approaching. I'm excited because I can rest for a few months and have more fun. . . . . Little Alyssa pray for me and my family that we will be safe and have peace of mind during disaster or natural calamity... You know I newly experienced since birth an earthquake, it was intensity 6.9 magnitude. Have a good day. God Bless and may the Lord shower His Grace everyday, BA-BYE,

She also drew me a very beautiful drawing of her family.... as swans. :)

Isn't she so talented!! This is one of my new favorite pieces of art.

I pray you have a blessed week... and if you sponsor a child you will receive a letter... and if you don't sponsor a child you will... You will not regret that!!

All for Him,

Song Saturday!!

I am sorry.. it has been so long since I have blogged! I hope you didn't miss me that much. :P

Well.... there is a lot to tell.

My little brothers received their first letter from their Erik from Bolivia. I will be really honest. Not that the letter was not the sweetest thing but I was more moved by my little brother, Wyatt's reaction to the letter then the letter itself. I can see God turning his heart to the poor even at such a young age. I love him lots. <3

I received a letter yesterday from my Jazzy girl! I will blog more about that on (mail call)  Monday. :)

My mom worked a Compassion table last Saturday (55 sponsored!) at a Newsboys concert... and is going to work one tonight at a Jeremy Camp concert. I hope to help with the packet pass!  So please pray God works on the heart of people on the behalf of the precious children who need sponsors.

We sing this song often at our church. Every time God just touches me. HE IS ALIVE!!

So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Romans 6:11
